Grand Opening of Phytium Eco Conference 2020 in Tianjin

On December 29, 2020, Phytium Eco Conference 2020 was held in the InterContinental Tianjin Yujiapu Hotel. Themed with "Chip Technology New Eco Progressing Together with Phytium", the Conference attracted more than 1,500 people representing more than 200 enterprises, including famous academicians, government officials, industry experts, university and college representatives, industry association representatives, user units, software and hardware manufacturers and system integrators.



Overview of the Conference


2020 has witnessed the explosive growth of demand in the new infrastructure market, and the booming of applications including the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 5G communication and the digital city. Therefore, the coordinated development of the information industry based on core computing power support for various devices from the terminal to the cloud and the construction of secure and reliable systems have become the future development direction of the computing industry.

As a leading independent core chip provider in China, Phytium adheres to the development concept of “independent innovation in core technologies and open & cooperation in industrial ecology". It constantly improves its product portfolio in order to provide mature and perfect system solutions and security architecture for industry partners and to build a huge, open and active industrial ecology in cooperation with upstream and downstream manufacturers. In order to demonstrate the progress and innovations achieved in the past 12 months, to attract more partners seeking common industrial development and to promote new infrastructures, Phytium has invited partners from all areas to share the new industrial benefits of "chip" computing power and look forward to the new industry possibilities in the new era.

Yin Xiaofeng, Deputy Head of Tianjin Binhai New Area People's Government, said at the conference: "Binhai New Area is leading the field in scientific and technological innovation. We have not only Tianhe-1, a supercomputer taking the international supercomputer crown for the first time, but also many leading independent innovation enterprises in the industry, like Phytium CPU, Kylin operating system, Great Wall Computer, Sugon Computer, 360 Software, Database, UniCloud, and Kingsoft Cloud." Carried forward by the impetus of the new infrastructure tide, Binhai New Area will become an important source of independent innovation and the main source of genuine innovation.

Chen Ximing, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy General Manager of China Electronics Corporation (CEC), mentioned in his speech that "it was proposed at the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee that ‘Innovation remains at the heart of China’s modernization drive. We will strengthen our science and technology industries to provide strategic support for China’s development’, which are prioritized in all planning decisions and discussed in an independent section." As an important part of high-end general-purpose chips, the CPU chip is the key component in achieving sci-tech self-reliance and self-development, and to address deep-rooted problems related to "painful chip shortages". It plays an extremely core role in information systems and is at the heart of the efficient and reliable operation of office and business systems.

Dr. Dou Qiang, General Manager of Phytium, delivered a keynote speech entitled Gathering for common development with chip tech, sharing the ecological construction and application achievements of Phytium CPU in 2020. In his speech, he said that Phytium currently has about 1,600 partners, supports 423 partners in the development and design of 924 projects, and has completed the adaptation optimization and certification of 2,557 software packages from 851 manufacturers; together with eco partners; it also released over 90 joint industry solutions, covering telecommunications, finance, energy, transportation, medical care, digital city, industrial manufacturing and other industries. Phytium has also combined technologies including cloud computing, big data, 5G, AI and blockchain, to provide the "chip" power at the heart of the rapid development of informatization in the industry.

In addition, Phytium achieved rapid revenue growth in 2020, with over 1.5 million chips sold and annual revenue exceeding CNY 1.3 billion. The products based on the Phytium CPU have been widely used in the party and government office system, business systems in key industries, cloud computing, big data, finance, energy and rail transportation and other important areas connected with our country's security and stability and our people's wellbeing. In 2020, Phytium also made great efforts in school-enterprise cooperation and technical personnel development, and officially released the Phytium training certification system, which aims at educating key people within government, ministries, industry users, industry associations, integrators, complete machine manufacturers, GPU and motherboard manufacturers and other enterprises and institutions to jointly build a new ecology of information specialists.

Representatives from Phytium’s eco partners including Huaneng, Baidu, Sunsea, Lenovo, Pactera, TOPSEC and AsiaInfo also delivered keynote speeches, detailing the application of Phytium CPU's in various industries including power, artificial intelligence, communication, finance, governance and big data.



A Pillar with Remarkable Achievements

A new product - Tengrui D2000 - was launched at the Conference. According to Guo Yufeng, Deputy General Manager of Phytium, Tengrui D2000 integrates eight high-performance processor cores FTC663 independently developed by Phytium, compatible with the 64-bit ARMv8 instruction set, with a base frequency of 2.3~2.6GHz and TDP of 25W. It supports the processor security architecture standard - proprietary PSPA 1.0 of Phytium, and meets the requirements of performance, security and reliability in more critical application scenarios.





Compared with the previous generation of products, Tengrui D2000 has higher performance, and is pin-compatible with the previous generation of the FT-2000/4, which will facilitate customers with in-situ plugin upgrades and replacements for existing systems, realizing seamless compatibility; the SPECint score is 97.45, about double the previous generation.

Various types of terminal products based on Tengrui D2000, such as desktop, notebook, all-in-one (AIO) computer, industrial personal computer (IPC) and network security equipment, will be successively launched in Q1 of 2021.


Empowering Ecology and Promoting IT Application Innovation

At the Conference, several projects were also released, including server product groups and embedded product groups based on the Phytium CPU, Joint AI Eco Laboratory and an Integrated Service Guarantee Platform for New Infrastructures and a training certification system.

15 domestic manufacturers including Great Wall, Inspur, Tongfang and Beijing Institute of Computer Technology and Application (see the list below for details) have released multi-channel server product groups based on Tengyun S2500; ten domestic manufacturers including Ruijie, Great Wall Finance, CEITC and Hanwei (see the list below for details) have released embedded product groups based on the Phytium CPU. These products will be used in many areas including domestic governance, enterprise offices, cloud computing, data center and finance. Compared with similar products, they have significant advantages in performance, energy consumption and independent R&D, so that they can support the effective transformation and upgrading of the national core information system.






As the first national service guarantee platform dominated by a chip manufacturer in China, Phytium National Integrated Service Guarantee Platform for New Infrastructures aims to provide exclusive services including training and technical support for major IT application innovation guarantee centers, integrators, complete machines, adapter centers, joint laboratories, software and hardware manufacturers. At the Conference, 13 integrators including Chinasoft, Inspur, CESTC and Taiji Computer (see the list below for details) signed cooperation agreements with Phytium, to become the first strategic partners of the Phytium National Integrated Service Guarantee Platform for New Infrastructures and will jointly serve the new infrastructures and the transformation and upgrading of information systems in various industries.





The Phytium education ecology was also launched at the Conference. In 2020, Phytium officially released its training certification system, which has obtained the joint certification of Talent Exchange Center of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIITEC) and Phytium. Phytium and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will be committed to cultivating a group of elite managers and specialists who can thoroughly understand and master the technologies underlying the information industry supply chain through professional and systematic training, in order to provide a solid talent guarantee for the national information industry. At the Conference, 11 universities including Tianjin University, Hunan University, Xi 'an Jiaotong University and Sun Yat-sen University (see the list below for details) signed agreements with Phytium for 15 projects in total, which constitute the first batch of "industry-university cooperation and education projects" for Phytium in 2020.




In order to better empower our eco partners, Phytium has reached a consensus on close cooperation with many AI leading enterprises to jointly build a full-stack Phytium joint AI eco laboratory. At the Conference, Phytium and 25 enterprises, including Kylinsoft, Bitmain, Baidu and Taiji (see the list below for details), jointly released the Phytium Joint AI Eco Laboratory to jointly promote AI solutions based on the Phytium CPU, to accelerate the deployment of AI ecology, and enable AI capabilities to enhance and accelerate the application of AI to thousands of industries.




In addition, 36 enterprises who had recently joined the Phytium Eco were awarded the title of "2020 Phytium New Partner". These enterprises included SuperCloud, 100Trust, Digital China and Emdoor (see the list below for details).




The Conference had four simultaneous sub-forums, covering topics such as e-governance, finance, telecommunications, industrial control and informationization, and artificial intelligence. At these sub-forums, Phytium and many eco partners shared typical cases and exchanged innovative achievements and development plans.



More than 150 enterprises exhibited their applications and solutions based on the Phytium CPU in the exhibition area, highlighting the breadth of possible applications, excellent performance and the active and open ecology of all Phytium products.




One strand of silk does not make a shirt, and one tree does not make a forest. Great things may be achieved by mass effort. The core independent CPU R&D and ecology building not only need the motivation of seizing every minute, but also constant patience and an open mind, so as to take others advices and suggestions to overcome difficulties and seek development.
